ENTHUSIASM: WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?
It is so common to see so many using the word “enthusiasm” without even knowing its undertones. To be honest, I was one of them until a friend of mine a few years back taught me what I didn’t know : the meaning that millions are still taking for granted.
If we go to the Merriam-Webster dictionary we’ll find that it will be described as a “strong excitement about something, a strong feeling of active interest in something that you like or enjoy.” This is the usual way of seeing it. But where does this excitement or strong feeling come from? In order to find out we must do some etymological research to observe that “enthous” in Greek means possessed by god, inspired by god.
In other words, you can’t be enthusiastic without having God within you. You see, throughout the history of this magnificent planet that so many different forms of evil have tried to manipulate at their whim with no real or permanent success, the God we all kept in our hearts had to move out until suddenly we all became disempowered. How did that happen? We were forced to BELIEVE otherwise, we were ordained to see God as an EXTERNAL deity and see ourselves as “sinners” if we would choose to keep God flowing through us and as us. With time, the memories have been erased from our conscious minds, but deep in our subconscious, we all carry one way or another, the impressions of this “dismemberment.”
And so, the word enthusiasm was kept in our languages but the new imposed beliefs created a “weak” enthusiasm: One that lacked the power of God, one that was as fragile as us, the men and women of the world who had to submit to the few who did keep God’s enthusiasm all for themselves.
Coming back to the now moment, I wonder how can our societies thrive in enthusiasm, creativity and inspiration, if the majority of their members still believe they are not worthy of an inner God and they are still revering a God that is kept OUTSIDE of them? This is just like trying to grab from an external source the power we need to become successful in life and transfer it artificially into ourselves! I wish it could work, but look around right now: Don’t you think if this was the right formula everyone would be filled with enthusiasm and dancing in the streets? I see so many indifferent faces, so many defeated eyes…Why is there so much depression and suicides in the world today? Because we have forgotten our enthusiasm, we have forgotten our Source of energy, our Spirit. For this reason, God – regardless of human religions – is asking us all to remember that it is time to reconnect with our divine self, and yes, inside of us.
It is time to reclaim the enthusiasm we were born to experience and enjoy. It is our right. Not to be lived for 10 minutes, 2 weeks, or a year. We need to be enthusiastic every day for the rest of our lives! This is what the universe intended for us, so it is our turn to recover that which is already ours: our divine legacy.
Until next time and don’t forget to be love!
